Most of our posters are at least half a century old. Posters were printed on poor quality paper and folded at the time of printing. The biggest enemy of vintage paper is acid present in the paper and bad handling. The linen backing process stabilises all this. Using archival restoration processes, the paper is pH neutralised and cleaned, which prevents any further deterioration. The mounting onto both linen and masa paper provides a stable base by which the folds can be flattened, and any minor restoration, such as touching up of fold lines and paper replacement can be performed, avoidingover restoration. The aim is to provide an easily handleable, ready to frame film poster, which will be enjoyed for many more years to come.
The majority of our posters have been linen backed, and we will happily provide a detailed pre-backing condition report on request, rather than using an ambiguous grading system that varies from dealer to dealer. We prefer to rely on good quality photographs and honest descriptions.
